This summer young people on Andros had an opportunity to preregister for the Bahamas National Trust (BNT)’s Navigators Marine Programs. New registrants were introduced to the basics of the Navigators Program through participation in a week long camp.
Camp activities included a water safety course at the pool of a local hotel. Members learned how to properly use masks, snorkels and fins and how to stay safe in the water . They also received swimming instruction from the staff of Forfar Field Station in nearby open water. By day four, when members were comfortable in the water, they were taken to the Andros West Side National Park to do exploration and data collection.
The BNT is excited to welcome the new recruits who are anxiously awaiting the start of the new School Year to begin their journey through the Navigators Program.
