World Wetlands Day (WWD) marks the date of the signing of the Convention on Wetlands, called the Ramsar Convention. WWD was celebrated for the first time in 1997 and made an encouraging beginning. Each year, government agencies, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and groups of citizens use this day as an opportunity to raise public awareness of wetland values and benefits.
The International Day for Biological Diversity, also known as World Biodiversity Day is sanctioned by the United Nations for the promotion of biodiversity issues. Biodiversity is a measure of the health of ecosystems!
